Course Description

Course 600 - Principles and Techniques of Cadastral Mapping
Course 600 serves as an introduction to property ownership mapping with an emphasis on the preparation and use of assessment maps. Topics covered include ownership data gathering, map sources, mapping equipment, base maps, conveyances, acreage calculation, mapping administration, and parcel identification systems. A comprehensive set of case problems covering the metes and bounds survey system and the rectangular survey system is included in the course material. Recommended: Course 101, PAV.

Due to the lack of recent offerings of IAAO Courses 600 and 601 convenient to North Carolina and an overwhelming interest from our membership, the NC Property Mappers Association will be sponosoring Course 600, November 14-18, 2005 in Clemmons NC (a suburb of Winston-Salem, just west of the city, conveniently located on I-40) and Course 601 in Asheville NC, April 3-7, 2006. A recent search of the IAAO Membership Database showed that more than 31% of the current members with CMS Designation were from North Carolina. We hope that these course offerings will help more people achieve this notable designation.

Non-Member $475
*Due to the large discount for NCPMA Members, you may not join the Association just to receive a lower tuition rate.
Tuition discounts for new members will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Refunds for cancellations after 10/13/05 may be subject to a cancellation fee.
If the registrant is unable to attend, you may send a substitute participant without penalty.
Tuition may also include some meals, to be announced.

Rooms are available for a discounted rate of $57.25 a night and the tax rate is 13%. Make reservations directly with the hotel and be sure to identify yourself as being with the NCPMA-Sponsored Course 600 group. The deadline for reservations with guaranteed availability at the group rate is October 13th.

Certification

Course 600 is a required course for the International Association of Assessment Officers (IAAO) Cadastral Mapping Specialist (CMS) Professional Designation. The course will be taught by Rick Norejko from Buncombe County, a certified IAAO Instructor and NCPMA Past President.
